UserName Inspiration
Hi, I'm wondering how all you guys think of these wonderful names, just randomly ones like:
Neutron Star
Draconus Xen
Zero Hope
Jorge Llorens
Alathys Tylderaan
etc...
List just goes on, I just think names randomly like that are really cool and I just some inspiration ideas for 1 of my own when my CD of GW comes in the post tommorrow (hopefully).

I think they are cool :-)
I usually give my RPG characters a typical RPG firstname and then a suitable last name that descripes his or hers primary profession, ie Wyrm Carcasseater or something crazy like that ;-)

Mental Ellie is an Elementalist (thought that bit'd be obvious), plus I like the name "Ellie".
Angel Delight is one of my favourite childhood snacks!
(I assumed you meant character names, and not forum usernames)

Arran Pellaeon - A take on a name from Star Wars some people may or may not get.
Matthias Cole - Name of one of the main characters in a story i'm writing. It's also a play on my own name.

hehe i tend to play on my favourite series of booksiscworld novels (and anything else by Terry Pratchett)... although I haven't this time! All my characters have the last name Lihatuh (randomly inspired by a friend) and these first names:
Pevil - my main character in any game is always called this, coz its my nickname
Stariana - Elementalist and the "third eye" thing she wears inspired this name... pretty rubbish really lol
Lutze - well this is from Discworld, trouble is the one in the books is male, but mine is female! She's a monk
Gearrik - well he will be a necro/warrior and the name was made up by a friend of mine, but he doesn't actually exist yet so there may well be a sex and name change yet

Adaria Esuri - E/Mo - Just a name I came up with once upon a time. Original no?
Kea Aero - R/E - I got cheap with the last name on this one, but I like the name Kea, Aero mostly just connecting to her rangerness...
Sahera Mohana - Mo/Me - Went searching for an indian/hindi name for my monk, since most true monks are from the far east or middle east. I just liked the names and thought they worked well together.
Scyleia Asteria - W/Mo - Both are names of famous amazonians. Scyleia means 'leaper' and Asteria means 'of the starry sky' so Scyleia Asteria means 'leaper of the starry sky' Nifteh huh? She's a warrior but I thought amazonians, since they are warriors would fit well enough for a femme warrior name.

My comments reflect my preferences only and are not intended to be critical of anyone else's.
I do not personally care for names that are the name of anything else, so for me, Neutron Star and Zero Hope would be out.
I like names though that do have a basis in a real name, and if they sound like something else as well, all the better. For example, I first used Khrysyl for an Orc Mystic in Lineage 2. the name came from the real name Crystal and sounds like chrysalis and thistle. I especially liked the veiled symbolism of an evolving warrior spellcaster hinted at by her name.
To me personally, it is more important that I understand the symbolism of a name than that it be so obvious that no one could mistake it. This also leave opportunities for me to add extra detail to one of my character's back stories if or when I see that as important to her development.

I usually always try to get some names that don't sound like our common tongue (be it german or english or whatever) in fantasy RPGs. Although most of the time they got some inspiration from the Lord of the Rings... we'll you can only learn from the master ^_^
My character names include (some chars only made it thru 2-3 games of PVP, then got deleted to make space for another):
Alamos Undomiel, Messina Kaitos, Aether McLoud, Kitsune Torinasu, Valar Sauron and so on...

Nice names. I personally wouldn't use Zero Hope and Neutron Star tho.
I usualy use my first name and a random second name. Or i use Gods name from the Norse mythology with their Hall in Asgard as second name.. Such as my elementalist "Freya Sessrumnir".
I have trouble chosing a name. Last character i created, i spent no less than 45 minute in the creation screen thinking about a name.. That's mainly why i just use my first name.
I did the same with my guild.. After 1 hour, i ended naming my guild after a reggae song just to see if the name would be too long.. so now my guild is named "Zoungouzoun Gougouzoungouzen" .. Most of my guildmate want me to change it lol.

I have this big, fat, 'unusual baby names' book on my shelf...
...or I use descriptive terms as names, when in a hurry/too lazy to think of something less elegant/cornball, aka Raven Windcaster
...or I take names from films/books/games that I liked, altering their spelling quite a bit, and mixing and matching last and first names. I've used 'Trania' (and varations of it) a lot, which was an alien drink in an episode of original Star Trek.

Any names that come straight from any movie, TV show, book, game, etc. (especially popular ones) just leave a bad taste in my mouth, but I'm just cranky like that. My RPG character names are generally word plays that could sound like regular fantasy type names but often have to be read aloud to "get" them and I generally try to make them in some way fitting to the type of character. In this game I have:
Jennis Idol - my nuker
Sensei Shanull - my asian-looking, sword-weilding warrior
Imac Oolgai - my friendly healer
Mark Twang - my archer and his huge, crazy chicken sidekick (Pollo Loco)
For the record, "Imac Oolgai" (gai pronounced like guy) is one a friend came up with MANY years ago (before macintosh computers existed) and I just loved it so much I've been ripping him off since. And "Pollo Loco" (literally "Crazy Chicken") was the name of a crappy mexican restaurant I went to once in Houston when I was a kid, but it just seemed so perfect. The rest are mine, though.

Wow, my name is up there. I dont know if it came from somewhere else first, but Draconus is the name of one of the main characters in the book I am writing right now. My ranger Xantara Xen (yeah I am bad with last names) is the other main character in the book. Heh, even my guild name, Keepers of the Dragon Gems, is the temp name of my book.

To make things easy for my guildies to figure out who i am (and because i'm uncreative) all of my characters are named "Alanya the" something. For instance, Alanya the strong for my mo/war protection/smiter, and "Alanya the trickster" for my PvP mesmer/necro
